James R. Engebretsen is a board member and Chairman of Compo Expert North America, a specialty fertilizer company in Muenster, Germany and Senior Advisor to XIO, a $3 billion dollar private equity firm in London, England. He currently chairs the finance committee for the board of directors of Farmer Mac, a Washington D.C.-based GSE with over $16 billion dollars invested in agriculture and rural utilities. Mr. Engebretsen also serves as the Chairman of the board of advisors for the Perpetual Education Fund.
In 2014, Mr. Engebretsen retired as an Associate Professor of Finance and Assistant Dean at the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University. He began his career in investment banking and investment management at Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs in New York and Philadelphia.
Mr. Engebretsen earned degrees in Economics (BS 1980) and an MBA (1984) at Brigham Young University. He and his wife, Tammy, are the parents of six children and nine grandchildren.
